Its not that HipHop is producing crappy music these days, it’s simply that the new pack of artist coming out are young in age and wisdom so therefore they speak of what they know and to their fellow target audience. An audience of the same relation and upbringing, not to those of us that have matured with HipHop since its early days. Remember HipHop is a young genre that has never seen the Rolling Stones or Kiss of our culture. Only a handful of our HipHop superstars still remain because very few have figured out a way to retain the ears of those of us that have grown up with them since their earlier years. It’s not that they have all disappeared or gone pop, it’s just some choose to make the mistake of giving into the “cool” and end up losing a loyal following. However take for example the cult like following that Jay-Z, Tech9ne, Bone Thugs, UGK and others have built and continued to speak to. Just because they are Rarley on mainstream radio or tv, it doesn’t mean the HipHop we grew up with and love is dead, it just means the business will follow the money and the money is where the masses are. #FoodForThought Just my thoughts..
